Gymnastics Medicine: Education and Research held it 5th annual symposium at Boston Children’s Hospital on October 14th and 15th, 2023. This year’s event comprised of two separate days, one designated for medical providers, with the other for gymnasts, their coaches and parents.
This was also the first year that Gymnastics Medicine conducted a combined in-person and virtual event, opening up this educational opportunity to practitioners all over the country. Along with the working board, expert guest speakers, who are specialists in the field of orthopaedics, pediatrics and sports medicine, presented on a myriad of topics – from ACL injuries, to mental blocks to hydration.
On the second day, former elite and NCAA gymnast at the University of Utah, Maile O’Keefe, joined the team and provided an inspirational talk, surrounding the joys and challenges of being a collegiate gymnast. She also stopped to sign autographs and meet our gymnast attendees!
Gymnastics Medicine’s annual symposium will be returning this year in the fall, with Boston Children’s Hospital once again playing host. Exact dates to be released soon – in the meantime, check out some of the photos from the event below!
Thank you all who attended and see you in the fall!
