## Course overview

### Lectures on Sunday. Hands-on on Monday.

Gymnastics medicine — a subspecialty of sports medicine and orthopedics — provides diagnosis, knowledge, and education around gymnastics-specific injuries and their prevention. The annual symposium brings together the physicians, physician assistants, athletic trainers, physical therapists, registered dietitians, mental health providers, and researchers who work with gymnasts every day.

This year runs in two parts. Sunday, October 4 is a full day of didactic lectures and poster presentations in Boston, covering gymnastics-specific injury diagnosis, prevention, growth and maturation, nutrition, mental health, and current research. Monday, October 5 moves to Exxcel Gymnastics in Newton for hands-on workshops — examining, taping, screening, and progressing gymnasts on real apparatus.

All presenters are on site in person. In-person spots have filled quickly in past years.

Program in progress. Speaker selection is complete — applications closed September 1 and speakers were notified September 4. Names, session titles, and exact times will be posted here as the program is finalized.

## Location

Two venues, two days — both in the Boston area.

Day 1 · Sunday, October 4

### Lecture day — Boston, MA

A full day of didactic lectures and poster presentations. The Boston venue will be confirmed here along with parking and accessibility details; previous symposia have been hosted in partnership with Boston Children's Hospital.

Day 2 · Monday, October 5

### Workshop day — Exxcel Gymnastics, Newton, MA

Hands-on workshops in a working gymnastics facility, about 20–30 minutes west of downtown Boston. Sessions take place on the gym floor and apparatus, so dress to move.

**Getting there.** Flying: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Newton is roughly 30–40 minutes from Logan by car. Staying: a block of discounted hotel rooms convenient to both venues will be announced with registration. Travel and lodging are not included in registration.
